The beginning of July 2011 will see the world’s biggest shooting and beer festival, which is known as the Hannover Beer Festival. Attendees can expect a range of activities and entertainment including shooting sports and exhibitions, fairground rides and a varied assortment of food from over eighty different vendors. There is a varied entertainment programme to ensure that the festival will cater for all ages and appeal to the entire family.

Traditional festival beer is known as 'Lüttje Lage' and will be available throughout the festival grounds in many of the catering tents. The main tent features a beer hall atmosphere with traditional music, and many of the other tents will also feature popular music. One of the most popular attractions at the festival will be the highest transportable Ferris wheel in the world. It can hold up to 420 people and is approximately 60 metres high.

One of the highlights of the festival is the parade of marksmen, who will travel a kilometre long path through the city. The parade will feature more than ten thousand participants from shooting clubs throughout the world. The event will also feature brass bands, decorated parade floats and horse drawn carriages to form the longest parade in Europe.

This event traditionally draws thousands of visitors each year and Lek Boonlert, head of marketing at, suggests that those seeking accommodation in Hannover hotels should book in advance to ensure that they are not disappointed.
