London, 28 September 2005: AirRadio Ltd, a leading provider of wireless communications for the air transport industry, has entered into a Letter of Agreement with BAA, for the supply of radio communications at the Airport Authority’s seven UK airports.

According to AirRadio, this Agreement will be a key step in further expanding the community of users on its trunk radio systems already established at each of BAA’s airports.

The Agreement sets out a close working relationship between AirRadio and BAA at Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Southampton, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Glasgow airports. Under the new Agreement, BAA will:

- promote AirRadio's communications services to its airport tenants
- collaborate with AirRadio on airport-related radio regulatory issues
- seek to work with AirRadio to share network infrastructure
- work with AirRadio to enable the development of new on-site services

Mark Girling, BAA Telecoms Manager, commented: "AirRadio has been providing managed network services at our airports for many years now and we are pleased to be signing this Agreement with them. It paves the way for us to work together providing our tenants with a consistent communications solution at all BAA’s seven UK locations. Clients at the airport will be able to enhance their operations using a supplier with an established reputation for delivering within the demanding airport environment."

Trunk radio systems offer significant benefits over PMR radio, enabling users to make calls between different companies operating across an airport. Radios can be programmed to provide one-to-one, one-to-many and broadcast call capability whilst the system automatically manages congestion issues. High levels of resilience ensure uninterrupted network service. Crucially, trunk networks have a flat monthly fee, giving full control over mobile communications costs.

Brian Nicholson, MD for AirRadio, said: "This Letter of Agreement is a real milestone for our business, and recognises our position as a leader in mobile communications for the aviation industry. Working closely with BAA will further develop and open up our advanced ‘community radio’ services to serve the mission critical needs of businesses and customers at the Authority’s seven major UK airports."
