DirectRooms.com – Baoting stages massive water fight on 6 August 2011

The 2011 Seven Fairies Hot Spring Water Fun Day will consist of a whole series of water based activities which involve not just the throwing of water but there’ll also be a special ceremony where holy water is collection and used for blessings. Visitors can also take part in the activities and watch several performances of folk singing and traditional dancing.

Aside from the water splashing there are painting and calligraphy competitions, sporting events and numerous parties that run all week.

For the shows the performers will be dressed in detailed costumes from various periods in Chinese history which people can also see as the carnival parade winds through the streets.

One of the highlights of the festival is the search for Miss Seven Fairy Ridge Contest where the province’s most beautiful residents will be lining up in the hope of being awarded the coveted prize. Visitors staying at Haikou hotels should be prepared to get wet but as the festival starts from 6th August 2011, a little water can be a welcome respite from the summer heat.
