With runners from all over the world arriving to take part and thousands of spectators from all over Japan and the rest of the world arriving in Sapporo to enjoy the fun, online hotel comparator is recommending early booking of places to stay.

The streets of Sapporo will be packed with runners on the 28th August this year as distance fans test themselves against one of the most grueling street courses available to marathon runners. With so many runners and spectators in town the choice of hotel Sapporo has available may be limited - particularly those with a view of the race route.

The Hokkaido Marathon has been taking place for 25 years now and attendance and participation have grown year on year. Starting place for the marathon is in Nakajima Park in downtown Sapporo, while the finish line is located over 26 miles away in Odori Park on the other side of the city.

Entrants to the Sapporo Hokkaido Marathon can look forward to a warm welcome from locals and a testing course which is ranked among the world's top races - and enjoys official status as a course on which a world record can be set.

Lek Boonlert, marketing head at says: "The Hokkaido Marathon in Sapporo is a real test for long distance runners and is one of those courses on which a world record can be set, so is exciting too. With thousands of additional runners and spectators expected in Sapporo in August we advise early booking of accommodation to be sure of getting a good value place to stay."
