DirectRooms.com – Taste of the Tamar take place in Hobart from 23 to 24 July 2011

Published: Tue Jul 12 2011

In previous years, the festival has been held in Launceston. It has recently been expanded to include these two days in Hobart, Tasmania’s capital city. Billed as ‘a Celebration of Food and Wine,’ the festival will feature wines and food from the Tamar Valley, specifically wines from a cool climate.

Over 20 wine producers and ten representatives from the local food industry will be featured at the ‘Taste of Tamar’. The event allows visitors to sample the range of wines and produce on offer.

The ‘Tamar Valley Wine Route,’ a group of volunteers whose mission is to promote the wineries of northern Tasmania, sponsors the festival. Wineries taking part in the festivities include Bass Fine Wines, Native Point, and Tamar Ridge. Food representatives will give visitors the chance to sample olives, honey, and cheese.

Those visitors who wish to stay in a Hobart hotel will be able to find a welcome variety on offer.

Visitors will be expected to pay $15 per day to enter the festival. This entry fee will include a souvenir wine glass and free booklet. Visitors can also buy a two-day pass for $25. This ticket also includes a complimentary glass and booklet.
