The race will begin with a 3.8km swim starting from the pier at Killarney Golf & Fishing Club and swimming through the renowned Lakes of Killarney, specifically Lough Leanne. This will be followed by a 42km run through the National Park and a 180km cycle around the Ring of Kerry, finishing at Castlerosse Hotel.

Whilst the cycle route features two major climbs, the run, which takes participants past Ross Castle and Dinis Cottage, is flat for most of the way. The Killarney National Park, through which they will be running, is the largest in Ireland and covers 25,000 acres; it also houses the one remaining wild herd of Red Deer in Ireland.

The Hardman Long Distance Triathlon is sponsored by Reflex Nutrition and HPNutrition.net.

Contestants and supporters will have no problem finding accommodation in the popular tourist town of Killarney. Hotels to choose from include the Dromhall Hotel, Riverside Hotel Killarney and the luxury Aghadoe Heights Hotel & Spa.

Individual entries into the triathlon are €140 or for teams of 2 or 3 the cost is €300. Entrants can attend the carbo-loading party and the post race party and will also receive a t-shirt, goody bag and a medal once the course is completed.
