The Delphian School soccer team began its new season with expectations of improving on last year’s 8-3-2 record, which earned them a third place finish in the West Valley League and a berth to the district playoffs. Several key varsity players returned, giving them the needed experience to compete in the tough league.

Returning for team are Sterling Petersen, a first-team all-league center midfielder; David Lee, a first-team all-league forward; David Mauerer, an honorable mention all-league midfielder and Daniel Worlock, a midfielder. "Those are my key players this year," said Delphi coach Mitch Neuhauser.

The Delphian School lost first-team all-league goalie Justin Perz and third-team all-state defensive leader Patrick Ryan to graduation, so defense will be the team’s weakness this year.

"We hope to go farther this year," said Neuhauser. "Offensively we’re pretty strong. Our defense is new to me so we need to develop it. But we have designs to win the league."

The Delphian School is currently in first place in the league with a 5-1 record.
