This annual free event takes place in Nice Old Town and isn’t just a flower festival but a celebration of the region of Provence and its heritage. Over 80,000 visitors are expected to attend. Ancient games such as ‘Mourra’ the hand game will be played, the name of the game means ‘death’ in the Provencal language, and is widely known and still played all over the region. Visitors will also be able to hear traditional music and sample local food.

The Festival is open from 10am until 7pm and is based in Nice Old Town that stretches from the sea front, Quai des Etats Unis to the Place Garibaldi and the Albert Gardens. Wine and Food lovers will be able to sample local wares and visitors to the Fair will also enjoy the education into the heritage of Nice and the surrounding areas.

There are many cheap Nice hotels where visitors can stay while enjoying the Festival. Nice Old Town is famous for its old alleys, medieval buildings and the Cathedral of St. Reparate, the patron saint of the city. Old Nice takes the visitor back to the time before the city became the huge tourist mecca that it is today. The San Bertoumieu Festival will give the visitor the opportunity to discover a little bit about Provencal heritage and even hear the ancient Provencal language.
