– Happy Christmas comes to Cardiff City Centre party in November 2011

Published: Thu Oct 06 2011

Cardiff will become illuminated with colourful lights when the switch is flicked in the evening of 10th November 2011. This year’s chosen celebrity to open the event is still a secret but in 2010 Dr Who came to start the show and he was joined by none other than Bob the Builder. 2011 promises a similarly exciting line up and there’ll be other well known Cardiff celebrities coming to entertain the crowds.

With the turning on of the lights the space outside City Hall will be transformed into a winter wonderland complete with rides, Christmas markets and an outdoor ice rink. Skating sessions will run into the evening and anyone that makes it onto the ice should watch out for a few surprises as a few Christmas characters are set to join in with the fun.

Around the ice rink will be a collection of fairground rides including a big wheel and merry go round and the markets will be selling a range of gift ideas which make them an ideal place to carry out some Christmas shopping.

Lek Boonlert, marketing head at commented: "All over Christmas hotels in Cardiff City Centre/a> will be busy and the switching on of the lights attracts huge crowds which will lead to a further increase in bookings. The advice is for people to be prepared when visiting the city and book ahead."
