DirectRooms.com – Turin Marathon attracts runners and spectators in November

Published: Tue Oct 11 2011

Turin's classical Italian architecture makes for a beautiful backdrop to the 26 mile event, and the marathon route takes in some of the prettiest locations in and around the city. The run starts at the Piazza Castello and then travels along the River Po through nearby villages including Moncalieri, Nichelino, Beinasco, Orbassano, Rivalta, Rivoli and Collegno, making the Turin Marathon a truly memorable sight for both participants and spectators.

Runners from all over Europe have already signed up to take part in the Turin Marathon, which takes place on the 13th November this year. With so many people heading into the city around that time, leading online hotel bookings website DirectRooms.com is recommending advance booking of Turin city centre hotels to be sure getting the hotel you want in the part of town you want.

The 2010 Turin Marathon was completed by more than 2,000 runners and this year even more participants are expected. The run boasts International Association of Athletics Federations 'Silver Label Road Race' status which means that world records can be set at the event.

Lek Boonlert, marketing head of hotel room comparison website DirectRooms.com, comments, "Turin is a truly beautiful place to hold a marathon and as such the race is hugely popular with distance runners and fans. This city really will be abuzz during November and Turin's hotels can expect a busy time of it."
