SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH - October 27, 2005 - Revinetix, a pioneer in Disk2Disk2Disk™ backup solutions, today announced that it plans to integrate Content Addressable Storage (CAS) archiving into its Sentio and Volo backup and recovery appliances by year-end. The software upgrade will enable IT administrators of small and medium businesses (SMBs) to maximize disk space and network efficiency, while deploying an effective information archiving solution to comply with regulatory oversight.

"By adding Content Addressable Storage, Revinetix helps customers to eliminate data redundancies, reduce disk-storage requirements and ease compliance with HIPPA, Sarbanes-Oxley, and other regulations," said Revinetix VP of Sales Brian Clark. "Revinetix appliances will be able to find and classify fixed, unchanged digital content across the enterprise, so that such data will only need to be stored once, even if referenced from multiple files or users on the network. This translates into more effective use of disk space, shorter backup windows, faster replication to other devices, and efficient disaster recovery."

The new CAS functionality will enable fixed data, such as medical records, x-rays, email archives, CAD files, and other digital content to be efficiently stored and more easily retrievable, since unique logical sequence in files and databases are only saved a single time on disk. This upgrade will enable Revinetix backup appliances to serve as affordable archiving platforms for small and medium businesses seeking a solution for regulated records and litigation support.

Revinetix’ CAS support is slated for release by mid-December. The software update will be integrated into all Sentio and Volo products at no additional cost. Current backup appliance models offer 500GB to 5 TB of raw (uncompressed) disk drive capacity and are available in a desktop format (Volo) or 1U, 2U, 3U or 4U rack-mount chassis (Sentio). All Revinetix backup and recovery appliances come pre-loaded with all software required to backup an entire network. Typical standard features include high speed Intel Xeon processors, Gigabit and Fast Ethernet controllers, dual load-sharing redundant power supplies, hardware RAID, and hot-swappable serial ATA drives - for unlimited off-site storage and greater reliability and speed compared to traditional tape backup systems.
