Let England team wear the Poppy with pride, says UKIP's Derek Clark

FIFA have been urged to re-think its controversial ruling banning our footballers from wearing the Poppy against Spain on Saturday.

East Midland’s UKIP MEP Derek Clark said the world governing body should do the decent thing and allow the England to team to wear the Poppy with pride.

Mr Clark said: "This is the time of year we remember those who died fighting for our country.

"The Poppy is unique to Britain. We saved helped to save Europe - without us matches such as England’s clash with Spain would not have even been possible."

FIFA rejected the Football Association's request for Poppy emblems to be incorporated into the shirts Fabio Capello's team will wear at Wembley.

It said Poppies would be in breach of their regulations banning political, religious or commercial messages on kits.
