InPractice Systems Limited (InPS), a leading provider of primary care information solutions in the UK, is launching Vision X-Touch, the next-generation touch screen patient self check-in solution, allowing patients to check in with minimum delay and maximum accuracy, and ensuring efficient management of practice time and resources.

InPS has developed X-Touch software with advanced information display specialists Jayex Technology. X-Touch has been designed to meet future NPfIT requirements, streamline practice operations and offer patients easy-to-understand, real-time consultation details.

Pre-installed on the Jayex range of touch screens, X-Touch software communicates with Vision 3.0 software, exchanging and updating data in real-time, allowing the patient to self-check in, print a ticket where required and simultaneously registering the arrival on the practice database.

Flexible X-Touch software means that the system can be tailor-made to fit individual practice needs. The self-check in screen can welcome patients with help pages in a variety of languages, depending on local community requirements. The software can also be configured to create and issue unique call numbers for patients on arrival to protect their identity, should this be requested.

Assisting practices in becoming DDA-compliant, the X-Touch system can be used by almost all patients and when used in conjunction with the Jayex D300 call display patients can be called by name or number, via visual display only or combined with synchronised speech. The system can be either wall-mounted, free standing or supplied with a desk-mount.

The X-Touch Reception software is also a powerful tool for practice managers and administrative staff, providing an instant snapshot of all booked appointments, of patients waiting and those in consultation. Staff can create and activate messages to be displayed in the waiting room, edit information and view patient queue lists for individual doctors.

Connected to the local or remote server, X-Touch software updates patient arrival details on the practice database, making them immediately available to staff and doctors

David Hinkson, Sales and Marketing Director at InPS, said: "Vision X-Touch offers the patient a quick, easy and personalised self check-in solution. It will streamline practice management and give doctors and staff valuable, real-time information on patients and consultations."
