DATELINE: WORCESTER, MA AND AUGUSTA, ME... The Alternative Energy Store, the largest provider of renewable energy products, advises consumers about important new rebates in Maine’s renewable energy policies. Catering to customers around the globe via their online store (AltEnergyStore.com) and catalog the Alternative Energy Store is headquartered in Worcester, MA.

In a renewable energy initiative, the state of Maine is offering residential and commercial folks several incentives to install and utilize alternative energy solar power systems.

To qualify for any rebate, the alternative energy systems must be installed after July 1, 2005. Systems that produce electricity instead of heated air or water must be connected to an electrical grid.

Consumers who have a solar electric system installed by a Qualified Photovoltaic Systems Installer (a master electrician who has completed training and/or is certified by North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners) to generate electricity, can obtain a rebate of $3 per watt for the first 2,000 watts and $1 per watt for the 1,000 watts after the 2,000.

For those who have had a Qualified Solar Thermal Water System Installer (a licensed plumber who has been certified by the public utilities commission) install a Solar Thermal Water system to heat water are eligible for a rebate of 25 percent of the installed system cost or up to $1,250.

Installing a new Solar Thermal Air System designed to heat air enables the consumer to obtain a rebate of 25 percent of the system cost, or up to $1,250. A qualified solar thermal system installed is not required for the solar air heating systems.

Sascha Deri, president of the Alternative Energy Store, and a native of Maine explained, "Solar energy and other alternative energy systems are designed to minimize energy costs while being good for the environment, reliable and clean energy solutions. Solar heating systems are already at reasonable costs levels and are particularly appropriate with the recent jump in heating fuel costs. State incentives make these systems even more affordable, which is an additional bonus."
