Holiday Centre offers free merry making workshops
Dubai November 2005 - Treasured photographs and memories, mouth-watering pastries and fancy paintings – all of these will be featured in a series of workshops especially organized for ladies and home-makers in Dubai. Women who have passion for learning new things will definitely enjoy the activity which is guaranteed to bring out the artist in everyone.
On November 29th, from 10 AM – 2 PM, ladies from Holiday Centre’s neighboring communities will all gather at the shopping mall’s spacious lobby to watch, listen and participate in three different workshops which will be taught by interesting personalities.
The first workshop features Ms. Lorrie Takeda, an enthusiastic scrap booker who started her hobby when she first came to Dubai four years ago. She is one of the founders of the Emirates Scrapbook Network, a community-based gathering of women offering support and encouragement in documenting and preserving their family’s memories. Ladies attending her workshop will be shown how a beautiful mini-Christmas album can be created using simple materials.
Meanwhile, guest chef Elijah Kaseregenyi from Coral Deira, Dubai will delight everyone with his tempting tarts and pastries soaked in finger-licking golden syrups which he mastered during his 15 years of kitchen experience from the world’s finest hotels. Without a doubt, ladies with a sweet tooth will never miss attending this workshop which will illustrate his culinary expertise.
The last lecturer features Ms. Andrea Hartung, who started developing her passion for handicrafts in the mountainous area of the alps in Germany. In one of her trips to Italy, she was introduced to the art of decoupage - where pictures are cut out and pasted on furniture or home accessories to reproduce a painting. How she is able to carry out this fascinating work will be the main highlight of her workshop.
"Holiday Centre decided to host this event for ladies because we strongly believe in empowering the women of Dubai since such activity will discover and develop their artistic and culinary skills. The activity is also a chance for them to be part of a talented community outside of their homes," Ms. Banu Tas, Operations Manager of the Holiday Centre said.
