Jacksonville, Fl.-- This year's Shop With a FOP Cop event will be held at Regency Mall on Dec. 19th, 2005 at 9:30 A.M. One hundred needy children from around the city will be selected by five separate organizations (Big Brothers and Big Sisters, 100 Black Men, Jacksonville Housing Authority, Police Athletic League, and the Mayor's Hispanic American Advisory Board). Each organization will pick twenty kids and each child will be given a $75.00 gift certificate to spend in the mall. Jacksonville F.O.P. (Fraternal Order of Police) Lodge 5-30 sponsors the annual event. Nelson Cuba President of the Jacksonville F.O.P. stated, "This is just one more way our local heroes police officers give back to the community".

In addition, Jacksonville F.O.P. sponsors a Special Children’s Christmas Party that brings together over three hundred Special Needs children from the Duval County School system. Each child is fed and given a special toy by Santa himself. The Jacksonville F.O.P. has sponsored this event for over fifty years. The event will be held at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds at 9:00 A.M., on Dec. 7, 2005. "This is one of the most rewarding events this organization has ever put together. It personally makes you feel good inside, just to see the smile on these young kids faces. They just love to see the officers in uniform; and it exudes what Christmas is all about and that is giving. Our police officers are good at that.," stated Nelson Cuba President of the Jacksonville F.O.P.

You may also make a tax-deductible contribution to the Jacksonville F.O.P. Foundation, which is a 501(c)(3) organization, by contacting Rene Angers at (904) 398-7010 Ext. 11.
