This November the Delphian School's varsity soccer team qualified for the District Soccer tournament for their 18th straight year. The Delphi Dragons, from Sheridan, Oregon, opened with an exciting match at home against the Dayton Pirates. Delphi won their match against Dayton 2-1, which advanced them to the semi-finals of the district playoffs against Westside Christian, held at The Delphian School.

Having previously beaten the Dragons on their own turf, Westside Christian arrived prepared for an exciting game, which went to overtime tied 1-1 with the overtime period yielding no score. This was followed by an intense penalty kick shoot-out. During the shootout Delphian made four-out-of-four kicks. Back-up goalie Shawn Butcher, playing for injured starting goalie David Kondula, made two key stops to limit Westside to two out of four goals, clinching the Dragon's win. This secured a state playoff berth (Delphian's 7th State playoff in the past 9 years). This victory led the Delphian School to the district championship game against Western Mennonite, where the Dragons fell 0-3 to the Pioneers.

State tournament play opened up on the road for the Delphian School with a trip to Hood River to play Horizon Christian. With the score tied 0-0 at half time and playing conditions getting colder and wetter by the moment, Delphian came out and proved that they wanted to continue in the state tournament by outscoring the Hawks 3-0 in the second half.

The Dragon's next game was with rival Santiam Christian, and was played on Willamette University’s new, state-of-the-art, synthetic soccer field. This was a special treat as most of the local fields had turned to mud by this time of the year. With the score tied 0-0 at half time, the Santiam Christian Eagles received the first break of the game and pulled ahead 1-0. After a second goal by the Eagles and trailing 2-0, Delphi went on a final 15 minute domination of the Eagles, but failed to get the ball in the net. Although this ended the Delphian School's bid for top placement at state tourney, they fought hard to the end, and finished the season tied for 5th in the state alongside former state champions Catlin Gabel and St. Mary's.
