Alistair Morrison joins The Fifth Business

Morrison, who joined the Fifth Business from his own business consultancy company, Strathmore Business Consulting, was previously an operational board director at defence and space specialists Vega plc and, later, marketing director at the specialist research and training company, Lorien Customer Focus (LCF), part of Lorien plc.

Before joining Vega, he was managing director of learning content producer Skillchange Systems - one of the leaders of the UK’s embryonic e-learning industry in the 1990s.

More recently, he was a non-executive director of Cobent, the ‘compliance’ software vendor specialising in the manufacturing and life sciences sectors. He was also a non-executive director of the consultancy-led publishing house Echelon.

"I’m delighted to have joined The Fifth Business," said Morrison.

"This is a company with a great track record and a fantastic blue-chip client base. Moreover, it has a reputation for high quality deliverables that make a real impact with our clients.

"At a time when research is indicating that organisations are more profitable when their employees are fully engaged with their organisation’s vision and strategy, there has never been more need for companies such as The Fifth Business, whose core business is communications.

"We have solid expertise and multimedia development capabilities, enabling us to create a range of solutions, from whole internal communications programmes and campaigns to single programmes. Among other things, we work in the fields of major change initiatives, IT implementations and HR communications," Morrison added.

"The potential for growth in this industry is huge," he added. "We’re currently a 14 year old company, with 120 employees, offices in five countries – and we’re poised and ready to expand our operations as our market develops."

Morrison will be making his industry contacts and considerable financial and marketing experience available to The Fifth Business as it pursues a strategy of not only expanding its core business of learning and design for the oil and gas industry worldwide but also diversifies into servicing other learning and design-related markets, including retail and pharmaceuticals.
