Calgary Private Chef

In the 1980’s Darrell Greig ventured forth to explore what the world of Culinary Arts had to offer. Darrell felt that the best place to start was Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, now known as S.A.I.T. Polytechnic. Shortly after graduation, he found himself in the heart of downtown Calgary at Sorrentis Restaurant, located beside the landmark Olympic Park Plaza, which was a central dining centre for the 1988 Winter Olympics. Shortly thereafter he honed his Buffet skills at The Calgary Chamber of Commerce Club. From there one of Calgary’s first landmarks, the Calgary Tower, was where he "elevated" his culinary skills. A short excursion at one of Calgary’s first hotels, "The Highlander", located on the TransCanada highway on the way through town, a perfect fit for a chef of Scottish descent. The Highlander was home to the Scottish tradition the "Parading of the Haggis," Other culinary opportunities followed including the chance to explore Calgary’s private golf clubs which allowed Chef Darrell to tour some of the finest dining facilities of the City. After moonlighting with Great Events Catering at Spruce Meadows Equestrian Centre, Chef Darrell was enticed to work in the Rocky Mountains of Canmore, Alberta and to embark on a feast of high-end catering and to provide some truly memorable dining experiences.

Introducing Calgary Private Chef

It was then, in an effort to reinvent himself, Chef Darrell decided to change direction by creating private dining experiences in homes and sharing his culinary insights through cooking classes, and private dinners, hence the inception of Calgary Private Chef! As Chef Darrell says, "I feel that one of the greatest things a chef can do is to share their knowledge with others in hopes of inspiring new legions of food aficionados!" Chef Darrell is ready and waiting to come to a culinary venue near you.
