A Big Project: Call to Action! Four questions to clarify a path to global change

The official website for A Big Project was launched today, along with a call to people from every country to build on the momentum for change happening all around the planet. The project has already brought in more than a quarter-million people from 30 countries in its global meta-network, after only being in operations for a few months.

The project is bringing friends and family together from every country to answer four questions:

If the world as it currently exists were to radically shift tomorrow, and we had the opportunity to recreate the world…
1) What would you want to continue from this world?
2) What would you not want to continue?
3) What would people need to do differently to get to that better world?
4) What is one thing you will do differently?

The project will then look for the common ideas where everyone’s visions for a better world overlap and call on artists to translate those ideas into songs, pictures and other means of creative expression. On December 20, 2012 (the day before the Mayan Calendar predicts a global shift in thinking) the project will set off an international explosion of art and music to bring a new sense of hope, possibility and direction for global progress.

Before the project can ask these questions, they need to build a global Meta-Network (a network comprised of other networks) to ensure that people from all regions, cultures and levels of access to resources will be invited to participate in the conversation. To do this, they are calling people from every country to come to the website www.abigproject.org and pledge (not their money, not their time) their networks! By taking the pledge, people are agreeing to send out a message inviting everyone in their own social media or community networks to participate in the conversation.


Heloisa Gappmayerr Biscaia (Curitiba, Brazil) pledged to invite 700 people "because I believe that the society change is already happening, but it needs to be spread out more fast."

Lillian Nanteza (Kampala, Uganda) pledged to invite 101-300 people because "I would love to be part of the group which finds solutions to the problems of the people in the world."

Rita Agarwal (Vancouver, Canada) pledged to invite 501-1000 people and writes "I want to play a role in creating the change I want to see in the world!"

Founder of the project, Dara Barlin, feels that the outreach is spreading quickly "because it’s striking a chord with people. A lot of people feel like something better is possible right now.. we’re just providing a platform to help figure out what that something is."
