Jestico + Whiles raises the bar with new website

jesticowhiles.co.uk is the first website in this sector to feature ‘fuzzy logic’ to encourage browsing of related case studies and content.

Created by award-winning creative agency unit9, this means visitors can explore the website’s content by choosing options such as types of building (e.g. hotels, restaurants, transport), building use (e.g. living, learning, working), geographical regions and size of projects. Based on these choices the site’s intelligent content management system then presents the most relevant case studies.

The resulting interface therefore encourages 'fuzzy' exploration of content, while tailoring the content to each user’s interests; making the site’s content ‘self targeting’.

It is also built on unit9’s content management system that allows J+W’s to quickly and easily update the content within the site, without compromising on the interface (built in Flash) and the site’s visibility to search engines.

Mark Iremonger, MD at unit9.creative.production says,

"During the research for this project we were amazed at the appalling quality of architectural practice’s websites. In a sector where creativity and competency are key; we were taken aback by the terribly poor design, technology and communication standards of many of the UK’s leading practices. We are delighted, but not surprised our approach to this site is paying off for Jestico + Whiles, and congratulate them on their vision and determination to raise the quality bar for architect’s online."

The site is structured to allow direct deep linking to projects, which makes it a powerful sales tool as well as being search engine friendly. The website has successfully re-captured the number one spot on Google because of the approach to the website.

Mark Iremonger, MD of unit9 said, "We spent a lot of time on the strategy, design and technology behind this site. For example, when one enters "jestico aldwych" into Google, the first result leads you directly to the relevant case study on the J&W website. The technical approach to this project is key to its success as a marketing tool"

unit9 Producer Sandra Dartnell said,

"We felt that this project was about introducing people to J + W work, not trite mission statements. It uses big confident images to show the detail of a J + W room or building/project, allowing people to explore the rich mix of J + W skills that come together across disciplines and briefs."

Ben Marston at Jestico + Whiles commented,

"unit9 have listened to Jestico + Whiles and developed something innovative and sophistically simple. A real achievement."

unit9.creative.production was set up in 1996 as a response to the domination of digital media by technology. We felt that creativity was mostly absent online and believed that it could be applied to make a dramatic difference to online communication. Since then we have built an enviable reputation as a creative online agency with a strong technical grounding. Our work today aims to engage people at an emotional level. At our very best we create remarkable online experiences that can change how people feel. Unit9 works internationally with a broad range of clients, including Vodafone Group Services, Sony Vaio, Honda, Virgin, McCann Erickson and Wieden + Kennedy. Visit http://www.unit9.com/
