The Hamner Institutes For Health Sciences Announces New Board Appointments

The Hamner Institutes for Health Sciences ( has announced new additions to its 2008 Board of Directors. New members include Dr. Enriqueta C. Bond, president of The Burroughs Wellcome Fund, Robert C. Eubanks, founder and president of Franklin Street Partners, and Dr. Garheng Kong, general partner at Intersouth Partners. The three additions complete a 2008 Board that includes:

• Dr. Michael P. Czech, University of Massachusetts Medical School
• Dr. Joseph J. DeGeorge, Merck Research Laboratories
• Eugene D. Ervin, Air Products and Chemicals, Inc.
• William D. Johnson, Progress Energy, Inc.
• Dr. James S. McDonald, Schering-Plough Research Institute

The Hamner Institutes for Health Sciences Board of Directors is responsible for guiding the success of the organization’s mission — to serve as a neutral and independent fourth party, bringing together key stakeholders in academia, industry and regulatory agencies to proactively collaborate on the development of improved chemical risk assessments, as well as new and safer medicines.
