Admiral announces new insurance discount offered for electric cars

With no vehicle tax to be paid and a subsidy from the Government when you buy one, electric cars have never been so appealing. Now one car insurance specialist is adding to the benefits of owning an electric car by offering a discount when insuring them.

Admiral is offering a discount of up to 10% for electric cars such as the Nissan Leaf and Peugeot iOn. The discount is available now and applies to new and used electric cars as a new customer.

Admiral managing director, Sue Longthorn, commented: "Electric cars are becoming more popular, with new models being launched all the time. The Government is boosting the growth in their popularity with grants towards purchasing electric cars and covering part of the cost of installing charging points for electric vehicles in garages and driveways, so we wanted to help encourage people to drive them by offering this discount."

The discount will be automatically applied and included in the price the customer receives either directly from Admiral or on a price comparison site.
