Stars of the new Superman Blockbuster 'Man of Steel' attended a sun soaked red-carpet premiere at the Waterfront in Jersey on Friday 14th June and found time to briefly stop off at the Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel, Jersey to change and pose for fan photographs.

Academy award winner Russell Crowe who plays 'Jor-El', Jersey born Superman Henry Cavill and co-star Amy Adams who plays Lois Lane, brought a touch of Hollywood glamour to the island and the Radisson hotel in Jersey, to coincide with the international Warner Brothers release of the film.

30-year old actor Henry Cavill, who was born on the island and is a former pupil at St Michael's Preparatory School, requested that an exclusive movie premiere take place in Jersey, as well as New York and London, in recognition of his roots. His father and manager, Colin Cavill, helped organise the event with Warner Brothers and Cineworld Jersey.

A crowd of one thousand attended the premiere along the Waterfront promenade towards screening hosts Cineworld, which had all of its screens booked out for the 20:00 showing of 'Man of Steel'.

Graciously signing autographs and posing for photographs with eager fans, the celebrity trio engaged with a lively Jersey crowd.

Henry Cavill was joined on the red carpet by his family and told local newspaper, the Jersey Evening post: "[I'm] speechless...I wasn't sure just what it meant to Jersey but now I'm fully aware of just how proud people in Jersey are of me. It is a wonderful feeling… This is still very much my home and it was very, very important for me to have a premiere here. We've managed to bring a piece of Hollywood back here and the response has been unforgettable."

Reflecting on his first trip to Jersey, Russell Crowe said to the Jersey Evening Post: "On a day like today, this could not be a better advertisement for Jersey.

"The island is just spectacular. We flew in, the sun was out and the sea was sparkling - it was like a millpond out there. When you arrive in Jersey on a day like today there is very little to criticise."

To commemorate the event, Jersey Post have issued an official 'Man of Steel' stamp with artwork from the film and an iPhone-readable barcode which, when scanned, links to special movie content. Cavill made a short speech before entering the premiere, praising Jersey Post for their innovation and describing it as "an honour".

This was the first time Jersey and the Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel had ever hosted an event of this type - and the ideally situated St Helier hotel was glad to be involved in the island's first international film premier.

Thomas Stene, General Manager of the Jersey accommodation said: "We're incredibly lucky to have played our small part in such a unique and exciting event, and it's been a phenomenal day for Jersey. Many of us are huge fans of the Superman films and Henry Cavill and all the staff are very proud and more than a bit star-struck!"
