Peak District hotel re-opening takes the plaudits

Published: Thu May 01 2008

Peak District hotel The Maynard is now fully re-open following a six figure room refurbishment which creates a unique offering for miles around.

Each of the 10 luxury rooms have been individually styled by Oulsnam Design of Bakewell, with no two rooms being exactly the same.

Guests have now stayed in the rooms for the first time, with the feedback received so far being extremely positive. Paul Downing, director at The Maynard, explains:

"One of our first guests turned out to be an AA inspector. She was quite impressed with The Maynard and as a result of her visit we were awarded our 2nd AA rosette and received a high overall score that will be reflected in our AA Guide entry. We have also hosted a couple of weddings already and the new rooms are now starting to fill up nicely, with enquiries from all over the country. Generally people have been wowed by the rooms, which is very reassuring having invested so much in them!

"We always knew that there was a dearth of high quality accommodation in the Peak District. The proof of the pudding will be whether people are prepared to pay a bit more for a superior product. So far, the signs are positive and we are looking forward to a good season hopefully. We are all at the mercy of the English summer weather of course, so fingers firmly crossed on that front."
