According to CIMA, the Industrial Chamber of Leather Manufacturers and others, in the last months of 2013, the local situation in terms of price and availability became substantially worse. The distortion of relative prices (official dollar, black market dollar, internal costs, and local leather prices) led to an increase in exports of pre-tanned leather at low prices to China. This situation led to China representing 72% of national exports in 2013.
