The Croatian telecoms market is well developed in terms of services, with marked improvements in network coverage and capacity in recent years, but operator performance has been squeezed by a challenging economic environment and mobile market trends such as MTR cuts and price erosion. Meanwhile, mobile and mobile internet providers are still heavily affected by seasonality as the influx of tourists during the summer season will see subscriber numbers and usage grow significantly. Despite this seasonal opportunity, due to a high market concentration m obile virtual network operators have found it difficult to establish meaningful competition to the main three network operators . BMI also believes that there will be a significant dip in operator profitability over the nex t couple of years as the Croatian telecommunications regulator has decided to triple the network fees to plug holes in public finances.
