In-car entertainment benefits from the need of having a convenient and comfortable time on the road using an in-dash audio player which is absolutely a must and a basic piece of equipment found in cars. However, sales of in-dash video players and in-car speakers remained marginal as average Czech consumers do not see added value of such products in their cars. In-car navigation had to face strong competition from smartphones, but performed still quite well thanks to the rising added-value features of such products. For these reasons, in-car entertainment recorded volume sales growth of 1% in 2013.

Industry Prospects

In-car navigation is expected to decline at a volume CAGR of -4% over the forecast period, whilst value sales are likely to decline at a constant CAGR of -9% at constant 2013 prices. The strong competition from smartphones which will be increasingly used for car navigation as new and better on-road applications will be introduced. Therefore, producers of in-car entertainment products will focus on decreasing prices and stronger promotion of their products in order to remain competitive.
