Headline Expenditure Projections

Computer Hardware Sales: USD4.9bn in 2014 to USD5.0bn in 2015, +2.1% in US dollar terms. Growth will be squeezed slightly by lira depreciation in 2015, but this should be outweighed by stronger demand for tablets, and to a lesser extent notebooks, in 2015.

AV Sales: USD2.7bn in 2014 to USD2.6bn in 2015, -2.8% in US dollar terms. TV set sales outperformed in 2014 due to the FIFA World Cup, but in 2015 demand will contract due to TV set demand being brought forward to 2014, TV set price erosion and digital camera and mp3 player demand cannibalisation.

Handset Sales: USD6.2bn in 2014 to USD6.4bn in 2015, +1.9% in US dollar terms. The handset market has been the outperforming segment of the consumer electronics market since the beginning of the smartphone boom in 2010-2011. However, we expect growth will slow markedly from 2015 as a result of a combination of diminished numbers of first-time buyers and price erosion, particularly in the Android ecosystem.
