Such company performance is attributed to its strong position in meal replacement slimming with 57% retail value share in this category. However, the intense competition in weight management is increasing on a yearly basis and due to this fact, Herbalife is losing its market share to other market entrants. The biggest threat for Herbalife’s position on the market is Nupo products, which offered attractive pricing strategy along with great product availability and strong advertising. All of these activities attracted consumers and Nupo’s market share has seen growth for several years in a row. 2014 was not an exception, with the company registering 19% retail value share in meal replacement slimming. The third noticeable brand in 2014 was Modifast from Biovat doo; it followed an active advertising strategy and continued to improve product availability and positioning.
