Authorities run regular checks to highlight unregistered sales.

Competitive Landscape

AmRest Kft, which operates the iconic specialist coffee chain Starbucks, led the fragmented category in 2014 with a 1% foodservice value share. The nine Starbucks outlets are concentrated in premium shopping malls, in high-traffic areas of downtown Budapest. Provincial expansion is not expected in the near future. The fame of the brand and high standards set by the operator make Starbucks outlets successful despite the premium pricing.
