Competitive Landscape

Unilever CR remained the leading player in deodorants in 2014, holding a value share of 21%, thanks to a wide portfolio of well-known brands, such as Rexona, Axe and Dove. These were heavily promoted in stores (price promotions, special offers such as buy-one-get-one free, high visibility) and on television. Coty Ceska Republika followed with a 14% share, benefiting from the continued popularity of its flagship brand adidas in the Czech Republic. Beiersdorf ranked third with a 9% share, benefiting from the fact that its Nivea brand is well-established and has a long tradition in the local market. Besides, the Nivea brand was highly promoted, and the company introduced new brand extensions during 2013 and 2014, which boosted its sales.
