Competitive Landscape

Medusa Group retained its leading position in 2014 with a 4% value share ahead of another domestic group, Aldente, which held a 2% value share. These two domestic groups have grown at a rapid pace since 2012, adding new restaurants and concepts into the groups. Their success came from locating popular concepts in prime locations in Bratislava and a few other cities. Both groups served the premium and higher mid-end segments. Their outlets served higher-quality food and brought innovative items onto the menus and quickly became popular. Both groups offered several brands of full-service restaurants, however each group operated as one chain with joint management and supply chains. The most popular brands of Medusa Group were Primi and Klubovna, which the company intends to expand rapidly over the forecast period. Bencik Culinary Group’s most popular concepts were Al dente and Al Trivio, both focusing on Italian cuisine.
