The Czech Republic is a leading IT market in Central Eastern Europe in terms of per capita spending levels, the extent and sophistication of enterprise and public IT utilisation, and the strength of the national ecosystem of firms operating in hardware and software markets. This position is set to strengthen further as we believe the Czech Republic will outperform again in 2015 due to in-market growth momentum and the bullish economic outlook from o ur in-house Country Risk team , including the expectation for appreciation of the koruna against the US dollar in 2015. Looking beyond 2015, we expect a wide variation in growth rates across IT market segments, with cloud computing, enterprise software, outsourcing and emerging Internet of Things deployments all expected to see strong medium term demand growth. There is however downside risk with enterprise confidence susceptible to shifts in sentiment, and a re-escalation of the eurozone crisis with the election of Syriza in Greece could undermine confidence levels.

Headline Expenditure And Forecasts

Computer Hardware Sales: CZK28.0bn in 2014 to CZK29.6bn in 2015, an increase of 5.9% in local currency terms. Stronger consumer demand will offset a slowdown in enterprise sales, but desktop and notebook sales expected to outperform tablets due to contraction in volumes after initial boom.

Software Sales: CZK16.9bn in 2014 to CZK17.8bn in 2015, an increase of 5.7% in local currency terms. Enterprise software demand growth, particularly in software-as-a-service sales to small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), the main growth driver, but cybersecurity software spending will also see strong growth.

IT Services Sales: CZK27.3bn in 2014 to CZK29.3bn in 2015, a local currency increase of 7.3%. Accelerating adoption for cloud computing services, combined with the tender of several high value public sector contracts will make IT services the outperforming market segment in 2015.
