Despite the financial crisis in 2008-2009, the construction market in Bahrain has managed to gain momentum. This can be attributed to the significant investment opportunities in several sectors such as restaurants, manufacturing, transport, construction, wholesale, and healthcare. The construction market in Bahrain can be categorized into four segments: transportation, energy and resources, industrial, and commercial. When the four sectors are evaluated individually, the transportation sector had the highest spending in 2014.

Technavio's analysts forecast the construction market in Bahrain to grow at a CAGR of 8.51% during 2014-2019.

Commenting on the report, an analyst from Technavio's team said: "New construction delivery methods from design-bid-build to design-build, construction management, and integrated project delivery (IPD) are on the rise to reduce project completion timelines. During the forecast period, there is a likelihood of large construction project owners working together with full-service companies or groups of companies under IPD contracts. For instance, Cebarco Bahrain provides its customers with integrated solutions such as general contracting, design-to-build, construction management, and property development."

According to the report, as of May 2015, construction work is underway for 3,895 houses in two major housing projects: Northern Town and East Hidd. In May 2015, the government of Bahrain announced the construction of new housing projects for the next four years. These include the Northern Town, East Hidd, East Sitra, the Southern Housing Project, and the Al Ramli Housing Project. In addition, around 25,000 houses are scheduled for completion in the next four years in five housing projects. These investments will bring about substantial growth in the market during the forecast period.

Further, the report states that the country lacks the infrastructure for training and certified courses, and this will pose a major threat for the growth of the market during the forecast period.
