Brazil Information Technology Report Q4 2015 - New Study Released

From: Fast Market Research, Inc.
Published: Mon Sep 21 2015

A worsening economic outlook for Brazil resulted in a downgrade to our forecast for the IT market in 2015, with a sharp contraction in US dollar terms now forecast. The revision is based on our Country Risk team's forecast for sharp real depreciation against the US dollar and a real terms contraction in GDP in 2015. However, looking past short-term downside, the growth outlook is positive - t he Brazilian IT market is the largest in Latin America and will continue to be driven by a growing middle-class population and enterprise modernisation . There are also major opportunities in retail hardware spending, with first-time buyer and upgrade/replacement opportunities in the PC market and strong demand for tablets (including procurements for education). Meanwhile, Brazil is also developing as a regional hub for emerging technologies, including machine-to-machine communications, b ig d ata and cloud computing.

Headline Expenditure Projections

Computer Hardware Sales: BRL50.9bn in 2014 to BRL52.7bn in 2015; up 3.5%. A contraction in tablet volumes, enterprise desktop and notebook upgrade demand brought forward to 2014, real depreciation and wider Brazilian consumer weakness will result in sharp contraction in US dollar terms in 2015.
Software Sales: BRL22.3bn in 2014 to BRL23.7 in 2015; up 6.2%. Enterprise modernisation initiatives are driving investments in IT, particularly in enterprise resource planning and customer relationship management applications, with SaaS growth outperformance.
IT Services Sales: BRL33.7bn in 2014 to BRL37.6bn in 2015, up 11.8%. Forecast downgraded in Q3 update but our view for IT services outperformance maintained due to accelerating adoption of cloud computing.
