Government Plans IPO To Resolve Poultry Meat Shortage: The Qatari government plans to launch an initial public offering (IPO) in 2015 to resolve the country's poultry meat shortage, according to Hashem Aqeel al-Aqeel, CEO of Investment House - a domestic bank advising on the project. The government intends to lease 5.7mn sq m of land to private investors for the development of a chicken farm. The farm, supported by Qatari investors, will have a production capacity of 45mn kilograms of chicken meat by 2018. According to al-Aqeel, institutional investors have committed QAR750mn (USD206mn) to the project.

Hassad Food Considers Purchase Of Brazilian Sugar And Poultry Assets: Qatar Investment Authority's agricultural division, Hassad Food, is exploring the purchase of Brazilian sugar and poultry assets, according to a statement by Youssef Hegazy, vice president for business development at the company, made on February 25. Hegazy did not specify the assets in which Hassad is interested and stated that talks are still in their early stages.
