Greece Food & Drink Report Q1 2016 - New Report Available

We have revised down our real GDP growth forecast for Greece to a negative 0.3% outturn in 2015, from a 0.4% growth forecast previously. We have long warned of the risks posed to Greece's economic recovery by ongoing bailout negotiations, and have been below consensus on real GDP growth as a result. We now see little hope that Greece can avoid re-entering recession after a positive 0.8% growth outturn last year and a 'Grexit' would see an even more severe economic contraction in 2015.

Big Changes At Greek Aquaculture Companies Nireus and Selonda: Selonda Aquaculture posted improved results for the first nine months of 2014, achieving a 4% increase in turnover year-on-year (y-o-y) at EUR104.6mn. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) showed a loss of EUR900,000 (which was, nevertheless, a significant improvement on its EUR30.4mn loss in the first three quarters of the previous year). At a meeting on 25 June 2015, the board approved EUR110mn in loans, as part of a restructuring plan to refinance its debt with creditor banks, and approved a share capital increase EUR12.4mn by the absorbing the assets of Dias Aquaculture.
