Théa Nordic remained the leading company in eye care in 2015, commanding a value share of 42%. Théa Nordic continued to reinforce its position through a range of eye care brands such as Viscotears and Oculac, which registered value shares of 30% and 14%, respectively, in standard eye care and Zaditen and Spersallerg which held respective shares of 20% and 19% in allergy eye care. This diverse product range ensures that Théa Nordic caters for most eye conditions.

Industry Prospects

Despite the increased irritation which the use of contact lenses brings to eyes, the number of contact lens users is expected to increase over the forecast period, thus reinforcing the standard eye care category. While the need for spectacles or contact lenses is expected to increase as a result of exposure to smartphones and computers, image is set to dictate that more and more people will choose contact lenses. It is not considered fashionable to wear spectacles in Norway so many young people in particular are choosing contact lenses, a development that will inevitably lead to sustained demand for eye care products.
