Competitive Landscape

The dominance of LG Electronics Indonesia PT in home video continued in Indonesia during 2015 with its volume share increasing to 29%. Aggressive marketing, growing distribution channels, comprehensive network of aftersales service, as well as continuous updates of product launches by offering technologies at more competitive prices than its competitors all contributed to its growing share in Indonesian consumer electronics, in particular in-home entertainment. Its latest launches include a 3D Cinema TV under code name LG 42LM3410, the latest generation of 3D TV offering a flicker free image that enabled a more comfortable 3D experience.

Industry Prospects

Home video is set to grow at a 4% volume CAGR in the forecast period as the conversion of old technologies to new ones will continue, especially the penetration of the later generations of LCD TVs with more comprehensive features. Growing disposable income and changing lifestyle of home entertainment will spur the adoption of these new technologies. Television will remain a basic home electronics product for Indonesian households, despite being challenged by the increasing habit of video streaming through other devices such as computers and mobile phones.
