In 2015 coffee demonstrated higher current value growth compared with the 13% CAGR registered over the review period. The growth of the category was stimulated by the launch of new products. Particularly under instant coffee (which held a 69% share of overall retail value sales at the end of the review period) there were a number of new product launches in 2014 and 2015, such as Italian specialities latte and cappuccino in instant format. Furthermore, the average retail unit price of coffee increased by 4% in 2015, which also stimulated value growth. The unit price increase was a result of the depreciating value of the Turkish lira against the US dollar and the euro, making imports of coffee more expensive.

In 2015 Nestlé Gida remained the leader in coffee, with a retail value share of 46%. The company was the pioneer in instant coffee in Turkey, and Nescafé is the best-known brand with its established consumer base.
Industry Prospects
Over the forecast period coffee is expected to register volume growth and value growth at constant 2015 prices. The category will, however, demonstrate a lower retail volume CAGR of 8%, compared with the review period CAGR of 10%, due to maturity. Despite this, the 6% value CAGR at constant 2015 prices in the forecast period is expected to be higher compared with the review period CAGR of 5%. Rising unit prices as a result of increasing import costs for coffee, as well as the launch of more sophisticated products with higher prices, will be the main reasons for higher constant value growth rates over the forecast period.
