The Czech Republic tourist market remains small but well established. The Czech capital city of Prague is home to a multitude of attractions and has long remained popular as a short break and city break destination for visitors from neighbouring countries and across Western Europe. Key Updates And Forecasts

In line with weakness in the eurozone and economic uncertainty in China, we revised downwards our short-term forecasts for inbound arrivals to the Czech Republic in our previous quarterly update. We project an overall decline of 0.3% in arrivals in 2016 to 7.84mn. We are, however, maintaining our medium-term growth forecasts. By 2020, arrivals will recover well to reach 8.6mn, with the market benefiting from extensive government support.

Regional travel will receive a boost as Czech Airlines begins flights between Prague and the capital of Macedonia from summer 2016.

From May 2016, Emirates Airlines will begin using an Airbus A380 on the Dubai-Prague route, expanding capacity by 44%.

The government remains keen to increase arrivals from lucrative Middle Eastern markets and in December 2015 opened a new visa application centre in Bahrain, providing an accessible and streamlined visa application process for this up-and-coming market.
