Basics things for refrigerator
A refrigerator is one of the few appliances in your home that runs continuously, day or night, keeping your food cold. If you consider how hard a refrigerator has to work, it is actually quite amazing that they break down so infrequently. On the rare occasion your refrigerator does stop working, you may face a high repair bill and the expense of replacing all your lost food. You might be surprised to learn that repairs are actually quite easy, requiring only a little knowledge about the appliance and a little patience.
Components of Refrigerator & Working
There are four important parts of a refrigerator: compressor, condenser, expansion valve and evaporator. Freon gas passes through all these parts continuously in the form of a cycle and undergoes various phase and temperature and pressure transformations. Freon acts as the media for transfer of heat
Throttling Device
Throttling devise is another vital part of all the refrigeration systems and air conditioning systems apart from the compressor, condenser and the evaporator. The refrigerant leaves the compressor at high pressure and temperature and enters the condenser. After leaving the condenser the refrigerant is at medium temperature and high pressure and then it enters the throttling valve. In the throttling valve the pressure and the temperature of the refrigerant is reduced drastically and suddenly. Thus it is the throttling valve where the temperature of the refrigerant is reduced and it is then able to produce the cooling effect in the evaporator of the refrigerator or the cooling coil of the air conditioner. The throttling valve also controls the amount of the refrigerant that should enter into the evaporator depending on the refrigeration load.
Evaporator
This is the part of the refrigeration system that is doing the actual cooling. Because its function is to absorb heat into the refrigeration system ,the evaporator is placed in the area to be cooled. The refrigerant is let into and measured by a flow control device, and eventually released to the compressor. The evaporator consists of finned tubes, which absorbs heat from the air blown through a coil by a fan. Fins and tubes are made of metals with high thermal conductivity to maximize heat transfer. The refrigerant vaporizes from the heat it absorbs heat in the evaporator.
Condenser
The condenser on a refrigerator removes heat from a gas coolant and condenses it into high-pressure liquid. Coolant evaporates at low temperatures and low pressure but condenses at high temperature and high pressure; because of this, heat can be transferred from inside the refrigerator to the room. The coolant is contained in a closed system, so the process can be repeated.
Compressor
The compressor constricts the refrigerant vapor, raising its pressure, and pushes it into the coils on the outside of the refrigerator. When the hot gas in the coils meets the cooler air temperature of the kitchen, it becomes a liquid. Now in liquid form at high pressure, the refrigerant cools down as it flows into the coils inside the freezer and the fridge. . The refrigerant absorbs the heat inside the fridge, cooling down the air. Last, the refrigerant evaporates to a gas, then flows back to the compressor, where the cycle starts all over.
