Although Prime Minister Narendra Modi talks about "Beti Bachao" but BJP Ministers/MPs chose to adopt a different point of view by condemning Delhi University student Gurmehar Kaur's democratic campaign to save DU from politics.
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs of India Kiren Rijiju commented "Who’s polluting this young girl’s mind?" He further added that "freedom of speech and expression is not a license to shout anti-national slogans in campuses. Criticise the government but don’t abuse the motherland" and that "Kargil war must not be exploited."
Commenting on kaur's issue Jaiveer Shergill , National Spokesperson AICC said ministers of BJP have been openly threatening & intimidating a martyr's daughter and even forced her to an extent that she withdrew from the campaign. He further said Government is on the direction following new slogan "Beti Darao Dhamkao" instead of "Beti Bachao".
Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi also praised Kaur for raising her voice against intolerance and said that for every voice put to an end, there will be a Gurmehar Kaur. The office of Congress vice-president tweeted, "Against the tyranny of fear we stand with our students. For every voice raised in anger, intolerance and ignorance there will be a Gurmehar Kaur".
Gurmehar should not worry , the entire nation along with the Congress Party is standing like a shield with her, said Jaiveer Shergill National Spokesperson AICC.
