B.Tech. - Bioinformatics (BI)
Bioinformatics are type of umbrella terms for the biological course that use computer programming as part of their methods and techniques, as well as a reference to specific analysis “pipelines” which is repeatedly used, particularly in the fields of genetics and genomics. The Human Genome Project are one of the best examples of Bioinformatics field.
This high rapidly developed branch of biology is highly interdisciplinary, using concepts and techniques from informatics, statistics, mathematics, retrieval and analysis of data related to biological systems or methods. Bioinformatics is the most promising and a fast growing field in life sciences. With the completion of human genome sequencing and the sequencing of various type of plants, animals and microbes’ genomes, bioinformatics is poised to take up the challenges of the post-genomic era and the need for well-trained human resource is greater. There is a huge demand for bioinformaticians in India and Canada, USA, Australiya and many more countries and presently the US bioinformatics market alone is worth US $7 billion and there will be a 10% annual growth in the bioinformatics market in the years to come.
Candidates must be passed 12th Standard or any other equivalent examination, which recognized by State or Central Education Board. It is required to minimum score 50% aggregate in PCM or PCB i.e XII Board Exam. Candidates should read five subjects in 12th Standard and they should be studied Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics with Biology as core subjects in 12th Standard.
POST GRADUATE COURSES
M.Tech. - Biotechnology (Pharmaceutical / Industrial)
It is a Post Graduate Pharmacy course. Pharmaceutical Biotechnology is a field that uses micro and microorganism and hybridism to create safer and cost-effective pharmaceuticals.
Full Time - 2 years/Part Time - 3 years
Candidates should pass Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology or Microbiology or Bioinformatics or Life Science with scoring 50% total marks in aggregate.
Master of Science (M.Sc.) – Biochemistry
A master’s degree in the field of Biochemistry is a diverse and fascinating discipline. Biochemistry is the study of chemical processes that relate to living organisms, It is closely related to molecular biology by which genetic information encoded in DNA is responsible for processes of life.
Candidates should passed with 50% marks score in graduation or any equivalent examination with any discipline with any field of Life Sciences or Biology or Microbiology or Biotechnology and other Medical Laboratory Technology, or in their respective any other field from UGC recognized University.
Master of Science (M.Sc.) - Biotechnology
It is a Post Graduate biotechnology course. It aims at training for interested students in the field of Molecular Biology, and they are Applied for Microbiology, Agricultural Biotechnology, Bioinformatics and Bioprocess Technology.
Candidates should passed with 50% marks (in aggregate) in any graduation course or an equivalent examination in any discipline in any field of Life Sciences or Biology or Microbiology or Biotechnology and Medical Laboratory, or in their respective any other field and from UGC recognized University.
Master of Science (M.Sc.) - Microbiology (Applied / Pharmaceutical)
Candidates must have passed graduation or an equivalent examination in any discipline in any field of Life Sciences / Microbiology / Biology / Biotechnology and Medical Laboratory Technology, or in their respective branch from UGC recognized University with 50% marks in aggregate.
Ph.D. - Biotechnology (Pharmaceutical/Industrial)
The Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology is strongly committed to train the students capable of working in pharmaceutical and environmental industries.
The programme includes multidisciplinary and interrelated subjects in molecular biology, genetics, microbiology, biochemistry, and engineering designed to offer genetic solutions to industry in an integrated manner.
Candidates must have completed Post Graduation with 50% marks in aggregate in the relevant discipline from a UGC recognized University. However, the candidate with M.Phil /JRF/NET/SLET/ CSIR-UGC cleared in the relevant subject is exempted from Entrance Test.
Ph.D. - Biochemistry
The Ph.D. in Biochemistry offers opportunities to our students to consider their careers in a multiple sectors as research and non-research both sectors in academia, biotechnology and government Industries.
Candidates should completed post-graduation degree with 50% marks and should be relevant discipline from UGC recognized University in aggregate. However, the candidate must be cleared M.Phil /JRF/NET/SLET/ CSIR-UGC relevant Entrance Test.
Duration: Minimum duration for Ph.D is 3 year including course work and maximum of 6 years(full time/part time).
Ph.D. – Microbiology
The Department of Microbiology are focus on medical and pharmaceutical and microbiology sectors. The medical microbiology treat with the prevention, diagnosis and other treatment of infectious diseases caused by bacteria, fungi, parasites and viruses, and some common infections such as skin/ respiratory/ urinary/ gastrointestinal/ STD, etc. We always study the characteristics of pathogens, the mode of infection and growth of microorganisms in human body. The medical microbiology provides investigational/ clinical inputs to physicians including the emergence of drug resistance (MDR/XDR) and suggests the treatment options.
The pharmaceutical microbiology treat with microbes and pharmaceuticals, microbial secondary metabolites as well as develop pharmacopoeia standards for generic and novel drugs etc. It compasses the R&D of anti-infective agents, antibiotics, the use of micro-organisms in the pharmaceutical products and some other related areas.
This University has also established a Centre for Drug Design Discovery and Development (C4D) to carry out the Research and Development (R&D) activities to discover new drugs against infectious diseases of bacterial, viral and parasitic with a special focus for neglected diseases like TB, Kala azar, Dengue, Chikungunya, Malaria, etc.
