Press Release
For Immediate Release
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas. (September 14, 2017) — The Exchange Corpus Christi, Munchies Bus, and Harrison’s Landing have partnered to launched an expansive hurricane Harvey local recovery and assistance program that will provide numerous levels of assistance for Corpus Christi’s neighbors in affected storm damaged areas. The recovery period will be long, and they are in for the duration of the rebuilding period. Supporting local is the ongoing theme of the project.
To date, the effort has gathered over 20k worth of materials that have been donated to effected areas by the Munchies Food Bus. The Munchies Bus is using their slogan of #FeedTheNeed to truly mobilize and feed the residents and volunteers in effected areas for free.

Monetary donations have been collected to provide needed items and services for families and businesses in need. "Being a business owner, the reality of what these businesses are going through is heartbreaking. Being unable to operate your small business and generate income to take care of your family is the greatest fear of any business owner." Said Exchange CC owner, Hank Harrison.

To follow the theme of the partnering venues, the group has also started a t-shirt campaign for "operation un-Harvey" in order to raise money for these areas in which all proceeds of this project are going to the Coastal Bend Community Foundation

Facebook is the main communication outlet for those looking to get involved. The following is an excerpt from a recent post:
*** #OperationUnHarvey Update ***
There are a lot of people that need help and theyÂ’re going to need it for a while, so #GetOnTheBus weÂ’re getting organized to help #FeedTheNeedfor the long haul. Munchies Bus will be passing out free food and donations to those impacted by #Harvey in South Texas every Tuesday and Thursday from 11:00am till 5:00pm. starting with JJ's Little Bay Cafe'in Rockport, Texas this Tuesday Sept. 12, then Miss K Bistro and Catering in Port Aransas, Texas on Thursday the 14th. If you know of another place that really needs help, please do post and include contact info. Keep checking with our Facebook page for updates on where weÂ’ll be in the following weeks!
We need all the help we can get cooking, funding, sharing, and supplying these efforts. We've created a crowd funding page (link below) to help raise money via donations and selling t-shirts to help aid the cause so check out the video and photos! All donations and proceeds will go toward the Coastal Bend Community Foundation.
If you want to get involved, below are different ways to really help. This struggle isnÂ’t over yet, and it wonÂ’t be for a long time. WeÂ’re sending our love to those in Florida as well, but we need to really focus on our community to come back stronger than ever.
** If youÂ’d like to Volunteer **
We need help working the Munchies Bus handing out food. If you have your food handler permit, and youÂ’d like to volunteer your time to help, please send us a message or post on this thread with your availability. There will be no less than eight separate days we go out over the next four weeks, so there are plenty of shifts available. If you can work one shift or all eight, anything helps!
** If youÂ’d like to Donate money, goods, or just Buy a Shirt for the Cause **
We have a fundraiser page on Generosity.com (hereÂ’s the linkhttps://www.generosity.com/community-fundraisiÂ…/Â…/x/17266922) that will allow you to make donations. Any donations are accepted just click Donate Now, and if you want a shirt click the $25 option when you scroll down! All proceeds will go to the Coastal Bend Community Foundation. If youÂ’d like to send goods, please send or drop them off at The Exchange - Corpus Christi, address 224 N Mesquite St, Corpus Christi TX, 78401 and weÂ’ll get them to people in need. DonÂ’t forget, itÂ’s not just water. Toothbrushes, shampoo, socks, etc. all help.
** Want to GET PAID to help with Demolition and Clean Up? **
WeÂ’re also working with a really great guy named Brandon Batey, who is bringing his contracting equipment down here to help out a whole lot of different properties around the Coastal Bend. If youÂ’ve got any experience in construction or demolition and are game for some hard work and good pay, send him a private message by clicking his name above.
