Is dairy scary?

At House of Pops, we are on a mission to deliver healthier, happier, more sustainable ice cream - and for us, that means excluding dairy.

And you wouldn't even know. While yes, our House of Pops treats are vegan, they certainly don't lack flavour. We use rich, organic coconut milk and coconut cream, both of which deliver full-on rich, creamy flavours that form the backbone of many of our pops.

Did you know coconut milk contains half as many carbohydrates as milk? Raw coconut milk also contains no sugar, while whole milk has a high sugar content of 12 grammes!

Coconut milk has no cholesterol, while dairy milk contains a whopping 24 grammes per cup. While dairy milk does contain more vitamins - namely vitamin A, B12, thiamin, riboflavin, beta carotene and vitamin K - coconut milk offers 3 percent of the recommended daily allowance of vitamin C, whereas milk has none, and coconut milk has more niacin than milk does.

Add in our real, fresh fruit and vegetable fibre, and a House of Pops treat really packs in the nutrients.

The world is moving away from reliance on dairy milk. If you don't know much about how it's produced, why not do some research via YouTube, or one of the many documentaries such as 'Cowspiracy' which blow the lid on the mass production of milk - which commoditises cows, treats them cruelly and locks them into a life of misery and servitude.

We honestly couldn't serve our pops under the guise of delivering happiness, knowing this dark, cruel product was part of our ingredient list.

And the benefits go on. Coconut milk delivers massive amounts of manganese 75 percent DV compared to milk, which holds none. Coconut milk also supplies 41 percent DV per cup of iron, while dairy milk has none. Coconut milk provides over eight times the DV for copper than milk does. Coconut milk is also lower in sodium than dairy milk.

House of Pops dairy free pops ingredients make them more accessible to those looking to be healthier, those following a vegan philosophy, and, of course, opens up the world of creamy cooling treats to those who suffer from intolerances, such as lactose intolerance and diseases such as diabetes.

Our happiness mission is to encompass everyone. We want children, the elderly, vegans, those with allergies, intolerances and chronic diseases to be able to enjoy a treat, happy in the knowledge it will do them more good than harm, and leave them with a satisfied smile on their face.

Whether you consume dairy milk or not, don't miss out on the happiness revolution with House of Pops - try one today, and you may never miss milk again.
