Glowing start to Christmas at Peak Village

Published: Wed Nov 12 2008

The dark winter evening will be a little brighter from next week at Peak Village as the Christmas Lights are switched on at 4.30pm on Saturday 15 November. Santa will be making an earlier than usual appearance and announcing the countdown to Christmas by switching on the lights himself at Peak Village in Rowsley, near Matlock.

Santa will be joined by a group of children from Rowsley C of E School who will be treating shoppers to festive songs. Martin Langsdale, one of the managing partners at Peak Village said: " We are tremendously excited about the festive season at Peak Village and we are delighted that the children form the local school will be helping to get everyone in the festive mood by singing Christmas songs. "

The Christmas lights switch on this Saturday kicks off the festive events and activities at Peak Village; a full calendar of events including the opening of Santa’s Grotto and an ice skating rink will follow in the forthcoming weeks.

Peak Village is home to nearly 20 retailers including national names like Cotton Traders, Leading Labels, Ponden Mill, The Cook Shop and Mountain Warehouse. The outlet shopping centre attracts 750,000 visitors a year and offers visitors the opportunity to combine shopping with other local attractions.
