It will certainly be a Happy New Year for felines everywhere as Cat Galaxy, the radio station for cats is pleased to announce that it has now passed the 2 million audience mark on its web site, proving that a radio station for cats can indeed become a dominant but positive force in the world of broadcasting which has mainly been controlled by humans.

"All we can say is thank you to our listeners, viewers, in-studio guests, and the media that stopped by our station or checked us out. We've had a great year and truly appreciate the support of our audience which has helped us reach this incredible goal," said Nohl Rosen of Cat Galaxy.

One reason for the station's increase in listenership and visitors to the station's web site has not only been the shows produced but also the stories written.

"We've covered some pretty interesting topics this past year, there's no doubt about that. We've also had our list of setbacks, but we don't give up easily. Cats are not known for quitting and we're living up to that reputation. Our station has proven that radio for cats is here to stay for a long time," said Rosen.

Another increase in the audience numbers is due to the media attention Cat Galaxy has received which clearly helped get the word out about the station and its goals, as well adding podcasts to the list of offerings.

"Working with the local media has been something we've strived for and hopefully we now have a better working relationship with them. We're very grateful to the media for helping us get the message out about what we do, but also about the issues that affect the cat rescue community. Cat Galaxy is more than just a radio station for cats, it's a voice in the animal rescue community. We want the media to see this part of our station and also check out the wonderful groups we work with when it comes to cats," Rosen added.

This year the station has played host to 5 of the top animal rescue organizations in the Phoenix area on its broadcasts, including the Arizona Humane Society, Arizona Animal Welfare League, AzCATs, Sun Cities 4PAWS Rescue, and Maricopa County Animal Care & Control. Cat Galaxy's live shows have also featured guests from known national animal rescue organizations such as Alleycat Allies as well.

"These organizations have definitely done an incredible job in helping to improve the lives of cats. It's wonderful to have the opportunity to work with them and also help get the word out about the cats they have that are in need," Rosen stated.

Cat Galaxy's goals for 2007 are to add new shows and new equipment to the station as well as increase advertising and attract additional sponsors. The station also is planning to continue to write stories for the web site and produce more podcasts which has proven to be a very popular offering. The station also had a 40% increase in listener numbers in 2006 and is expected to increase that number going into 2007. The station also celebrated it's 5th year of broadcasting this year.
