Dubai, 19 October 2005 - Motivate Publishing is pleased to announce the publication of Reef Fishes – UAE and Gulf of Oman, a fully illustrated title in the Arabian Heritage Guide Series. It is the first guide to the identification of the most frequently seen reef fishes of the UAE and Gulf of Oman. The guide is priced at Euros 12.5.

This lavishly illustrated guide is an affordable reference work for divers, snorkellers, naturalists, fishermen and visitors to the region. It will help these people identify an amazing variety of reef fishes and enhance their snorkelling and diving experiences.

The book features a general introduction, a nomenclature, information on the general and sensory characteristics of fishes, comprehensive descriptions and photographs of species, a checklist and a detailed index of common and scientific names.

Commenting on the book, James Wilson, Chief Executive Officer Nakheel and Dubai Waterfront Company, says: "As the region's premier developer of waterfront real estate, Nakheel is proud to sponsor Reef Fishes – which perfectly illustrates the marine diversity off the coasts of the UAE. Our commitment to both sustaining and enhancing the marine environment has been a major priority for Nakheel since the launch of The Palm, Jumeirah in 2001. The Crescent of The Palm, Jumeirah is currently the world's biggest artificial rocky reef, and the marine life began to thrive as soon as we began building the reef with the appearance of barnacles, sponges, crabs and fish; even dolphins have been spotted off the breakwater."

Commenting on the book, David Steele, Motivate Publishing’s Senior Books Editor and an internationally qualified Dive master, said, "This is a book that has been sorely needed in the UAE and Oman, where diving and snorkelling are such popular sports. We are very fortunate to have had such an experienced and dedicated author compile this amazingly useful and beautifully photographed reference guide."
